Why This Grant Exists
Some dogs are running
out of options...
The 2026 Behavioral Intervention Grant by Affective Canines was created for dogs whose serious behavior problems are putting their future in their home, or even their life, at risk.
This was made to help dogs facing surrender, behavioral euthanasia, or severe decline in quality-of-life receive access to high-level behavioral rehabilitation, at zero cost.
Because no dog's story should end simply because the right kind of help was out of reach.
Easy for You. Simple for Your Dog.
How the Grant Works
The step-by-step process you and your dog always deserved.
1
Tell Us Your Dog's Story
Submit a detailed application below. The more openly you share your dog’s story, the better we can evaluate whether this grant may be the right fit.
2
We Review Your Case
Because this grant was created specifically for complex behavioral cases, we review every submission thoroughly, not just as an application, but as a real dog and family asking for help.
3
One Dog Wins the Grant
Only one dog will be selected to receive the 2026 Behavioral Intervention Grant. But don't worry. Other dogs may still receive future opportunities, support, or placement options through Affective Canines.
4
The Intervention Begins
If chosen, your dog will begin working directly with us through our immersive behavioral intervention process. Every case is individualized to your dog’s behavior, emotional state, and overall needs, with the goal of creating lasting behavioral change.
5
Your Dog Helps Others Like Them
Your dog's rehabilitation journey will be fully documented to show what is possible for dogs who are labeled "unfixable" and "too far gone".
Your dog’s story could help other families realize that their difficult dog is not hopeless.
The Process
What the Selected Dog Receives
One selected dog with severe behavior issues will receive Affective Canines’ Behavioral Intervention, completely free of charge.
Our proven rehabilitation system below is tailored entirely to your dog.
We guide your dog through a series of phases, adjusting daily based on their progress, until the problem is fully resolved.

People who don’t believe problems like aggression can truly be solved
Situations that haven't become serious.
If your situation falls into the first category,
you're exactly who this Grant is for.
Proof that Change is Possible
We specialize in the dogs most programs simply aren’t built for.
We only work with dogs facing serious behavioral challenges, the kinds of cases families often feel out of options with.
As former Military Working Dog handlers, we’ve now dedicated our lives to help dogs overcome severe behavioral challenges through proper intervention and rehabilitation.
We’ve experienced firsthand that many dogs labeled “unfixable” simply never received the right kind of help.

Featured Case Study: Prince
BEFORE: Severely Aggressive Shelter Dog
AFTER: Playful and No More Aggression
"Prince would've been euthanized if not for
Affective Canines."
Prince was found at the shelter, tied to a fire hydrant overnight, in 30-degree weather. By the time we were called in, he was biting everyone.
What you’re seeing here isn’t us managing the issue; it’s real behavior change. He went from severely aggressive to happy, playful, and genuinely enjoys being around people, even the same people he was biting before.
Prince was one bite away from being put down.
Dogs like him aren’t too far gone, and yours isn’t either.

Aggression
Drax
BEHAVIOR ISSUE:
Human Aggression
Drax was scheduled to be euthanized in a Texas shelter, before developing a severe behavioral reputation that left almost no one willing to handle him. Today, being adopted by us, he lives as a playful, affectionate, and deeply loved family dog.

Resource
Aggression
Tanner
BEHAVIOR ISSUE:
Resource-related Aggression
Tanner’s extreme possessive behaviors had escalated where he was repeatedly biting members of his family. Through developing his sense of agency, clear cooperation with humans, and helping Tanner discover healthy outlets, we were able to help him become significantly clear-headed, emotionally stable, and reliable within his home.

This is what happens when your dog's
behavior problems are fully resolved.
Your dog could be next.
Limited Capacity

"We couldn’t even go near him before. Now, he’s a completely different dog"
Why we only take on
1-2 dogs at a time
The dogs accepted into Affective Canines receive an intensive level of behavioral rehabilitation that requires an enormous amount of hands-on involvement.
This is what allows us to truly rehabilitate their problems, but it also means availability is extremely limited.
At most, we only work with 1–2 intervention dogs simultaneously. Your Grant dog would become one of those cases.
By limiting the number of dogs we bring in, we guarantee yours receives our undivided attention. They are a part of our daily lives and receive the precise, tailored support they need to get better.
For the right dog, that level of attention can change everything.
Integrated Living Environment
Your dog is fully integrated into our daily environment (not in a kennel), so their behavioral change is built under the same conditions it needs to hold.
Founder-Led Rehabilitation
Your dog is worked directly by us from start to finish, so you know they're in good hands. No handoffs and no rotating staff.
Dog-Specific Approach
Every dog is different. We build the rehabilitation process around their personality, breed, and behavior, so they can succeed long-term.
Next Steps
Apply for the Grant
Applying for your own dog?
We encourage you to tell us your dog’s full story honestly and openly. The more detail you provide, the better we can understand your dog, your situation, and how we may be able to help.
This application is not about judging your dog. It’s about understanding what they’re going through, what your family is experiencing, and whether this level of intervention may be the right fit.
