Astor was serving as a Military Working Dog in Bahrain when his base came under attack in early 2026. Afterward, Astor was sent back to the U.S. to retire, but he had developed a serious history of biting his handlers, resulting in multiple official bite reports and making him unsafe to place into a normal home. With rehabilitation or euthanasia as his only options, Mission K9 reached out to us for help.

Astor came to Affective Canines for what would become the world's first ever documented Military Working Dog behavior rehabilitation.

Tanner’s extreme possessive behaviors had escalated where he was repeatedly biting members of his family.
