Affective Canines helps people when their dog’s behavior has become a serious problem. After years of training Military Working Dogs, we learned that behavior isn’t optional, and outcomes matter. For those dogs, the work had to be fulfilling, reliable, and built to last. That's the standard we bring to every dog we help now. We don't offer normal dog training. Instead, we specialize in behavior rehabilitation. This means we fix issues like severe aggression, reactivity, and other extreme behavior issues, for good. Our goal is simple: to step in when no one else will and make sure no dog loses their home, or their life, because of behavior problems.

We help dogs who are on the edge of losing everything because of their behavior problems. Our program, The Affective Canine™,(/the-affective-canine-program) is built for these kinds of dogs, the ones who have been labeled "too far gone". They live with us for 4–8 weeks, while we handle the behavior from start to finish. It’s specifically for dogs dealing with extreme aggression, reactivity, or other complex behavior problems that haven't been resolved anywhere else.

We’re based in Richmond, Virginia and work with dogs throughout the entire state of Virginia. If you have a dog in Virginia with serious behavior issues, you’re in the right place. If you’re outside of Virginia and feel like this is what your dog needs, you’re more than welcome to apply or reach out. Dogs who need this level of rehabilitation shouldn’t go without help because of location alone.

Our program investment is $10,000. This is designed to resolve their behavior issues properly, so you’re not dealing with it for the next 5-10+ years of your dog’s life. We only take on a very small number of dogs at a time, so everything is tailored to your specific dog and the level of work required.
